Russian Speaking Club Branding & Marketing Strategy

Visual identity redesign, social media direction, and community-focused marketing for Suffolk University’s cultural organization.

Rebrand and creative direction for the Russian Speaking Club at Suffolk University. Together with the club’s Creative Director, I developed a new logo, color palette, and typography system that represent culture, connection, and community. The updated design and social media visuals established a unified brand identity and strengthened engagement across platforms.

Developing the New Russian Speaking Club Identity

STEP 1:

My creative director and I analyzed the original RSC logo and identified opportunities to make it more expressive and community-oriented. Early sketches explored themes of culture, connection, and warmth — values central to the Russian-speaking community.

BEFORE:

A circular logo with a pink background, featuring the letters 'PS' and the words 'Russian Spa & Gift' around the edge.
A sketch of a cute, fluffy dog wearing a Santa hat with pom-poms and a bow at the bottom.

STEP 2:

When developing the new ram mascot, the goal was to create a design that felt familiar to the Suffolk community yet distinct to our club. The final mascot maintains subtle visual ties to Suffolk’s identity while introducing a softer, friendlier personality.

1ST VARIATION:

A cute cartoon drawing of a sheep's face wearing a hood, with large eyes, a small nose, and a smile. The sheep has wool on its head and a small bow or ribbon tied at the neck.

2ND VARIATION -> FINAL:

A black and white coloring page of a cute lamb wearing a Santa hat with two small bells. The lamb has big, sparkling eyes, a small nose, and a happy expression. Behind the lamb, there is a large, rounded Christmas ornament with the letters "RS" on it.

STEP 3:

We then developed a full brand system — logo, color palette and typography ensuring a consistent and engaging visual identity across all platforms.

The Russian Speaking Club logo features a cartoon ram mascot wearing a navy blue kippah with yellow accents, with the letters 'RS' above its head, combining playful and confident elements with a navy and gold color palette.
Grid of four colored squares with labels: top left purple, top right yellow, bottom left navy blue, bottom right white, with black background.

Social Media Presence

As President of the Russian Speaking Club, I focused on promoting our events in a creative and strategic way to grow recognition beyond Suffolk.

Each post was designed to attract both students from other Boston universities and members of the local Russian-speaking community.

By combining playful visuals, cultural themes, and event storytelling, our social media presence became a key driver of engagement and helped establish the club as a recognizable part of the Russian-speaking network in Boston.

To grow the Russian Speaking Club’s presence in Boston, I developed a marketing strategy focused on collaboration and inclusivity.

Partnering with universities like Harvard and NYU helped expand recognition beyond Suffolk, while Russian language sessions for non-speakers opened the club to a wider audience.

These initiatives strengthened engagement and positioned RSC as a creative, welcoming community within Boston’s student network.
